Washington Elementary Library 

OPENING:

Tim Higgins called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm

TREASURES REPORT:

Lori Wylie reported the beginning balance was $13,417.97. Total inflows were $5.10. Total outflows were $2,045.13. The ending balance is $16,377.94, which includes a $5,000.00 CD.    Lori also stated that there are auction donations coming in. Yeah!!! 

PRINCIPAL/VICE PRINCIPAL:

Mrs. Stevens stated Camp Invention will be held in June at Willoughby Middle School. Tony Marinelli is available to come to the school to talk about the camp.  Also, they are giving families new options to finance Camp Invention this year, A payment plan which requires $50 deposit and three credit card payments. 

Mrs. Harker gave to all members a “Thinking Skills” article.  This article has ways to improve your child’s thinking skills.  Questions you can ask them to get them to think on a different level.  Mrs. Harker also stated that she is very pleased with the projects that the student’s have completed. She also commented that the teachers are using the methods that they learned with Nancy Weber. 

Tim Higgins spoke about Carol Bergeron resigning as secretary.  Tonya Mihalek has agreed to step down as Co-Vice President to fill in the Secretary position, making Sue Luck the Vice President.  Tim asked the members to vote and they voted unanimously for the change. 

Minutes from the November 13, 2008 meeting were approved.

Kim Aliazzi reported that the Patrician has been reserved for the February 28th, Auction.  Auctioneers are in place, and they are Dr. Miller, and Tim Hamman.  Mark Rosenberg has agreed to be the M.C. and Louis Severeno will be the D.J.  The donation letters were sent out for the students to address and to be returned by December 10, 2008.  The student who sends the most letters has the chance to win an IPOD, Nintendo DS, or $150.  The students will receive one raffle ticket for every 2 letters sent for a chance to win a gift card.  The raffle tickets are based on letters not donations. 

Lisa Faulkner will be doing the invitations.  There will be an invitation stuffing party at Kim’s house on Saturday December 13, 6-9pm.  Kim also stated that there are a lot of donations coming in.  She would like people to come up with some ways to have more people attend the Auction.  There were 1600 letters send asking for donations, we need to have volunteers to help call the business’s that did not respond.  

Tim stated that he is looking for advisors to amend the By-laws.  He said that Dave,  Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Harker,  and Tim Higgins would serve on the. 

Amy Soltesz said that the Carnival will be on January 31, 2009 at North High School in Eastlake.  Denise Steinmetz will be running this again this year.  Santa Shop did well this year.  She needs someone to take over since this was Jackie Rosenberger’s last year.  Family bowling was a huge success, they are planning on having another one.  PTA is also having a family movie night in January, exact date to be determined. 

Stephanie Perusek reported that she is working on a proposal with Fine Arts, and she is talking to the teachers to find out what art projects works with their curriculum 

Tim Higgins motioned to adjourn, meeting adjourned 8:00 pm.
